I've just finished the excellent Zep Biography "When Giants Walked the Earth" by Mick Wall - for once a really good biography that, like a good novel, tries to get an understanding of the characters thoughts and get an insight of whhat made them do what they did (the exact opposite of the recent Robert Plat biography which despite the interesting subject is no more than a patchy cut and paste work of articles and press release type facts).
Anyway, the complexity of Page and Plant charachters shines throughout the book whilst one really have to admire the restrained Jones and his main focus on the real thinng - music.
Which in turn gave me the trigger to post here one of the criminaly neglected post Zep gems from John Paul Jones first solo tour.
The CD says Recorderd on DAT by Sparky and Mixed in LA by Mr. Hyde - so thank you both. The title as well as the inner cover (sorry, no scanner over here, you'll have to look elsewhere) is a take on a Pistols' Sid Vicious bootleg by the same name. Love it when bootleg authors pay homage to other bootlegs (Ever since the "For Badge Holders Part 3" bootleg of Plant 1985 US tour...). Flacs are taken from the Silvers. Enjoy!
